When I signed my first watercolor painting with my full name, I decided that I needed a shorter signature. Many years ago, my mother referred to me in letters to her family as JC. My brother Mark picked it up and soon his friends and mine nicknamed me as such. I now sign my paintings as JC Hart.

Essay writing has been my main means of expression through most of my life, with dabbling in the visual art world. In 2014, I took a class in watercolor. Immediately I became hooked on the medium and now I see life from a different perspective—as a creative interpretation of reality.
